Scripture Reading: Philippians 2:9-11 (NIV) "Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."
Good morning, Church! Today, we’re diving into one of the most powerful declarations in Scripture—the undeniable, unstoppable truth that one day every knee will bow, and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. Whether we realize it or not, this isn’t just a prophecy for the future; it’s a reminder for today, a call to action, and an invitation to align our hearts with the reality of Christ's lordship.
The Unstoppable Authority of Christ
Let's start with this truth: Jesus is King. Not will be, not might be—He is. Right now, at this very moment, Jesus reigns. Colossians 1:16-17 says,
"For in Him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together."
Think about that—everything was created by Him and for Him. Whether people acknowledge it or not, He holds it all together. The world may ignore Him, but His authority stands firm.
The Certainty of Bowing
Philippians tells us that "every knee will bow." That’s not just believers—it’s everyone. Every leader, every nation, every skeptic, every person who ever lived. There won’t be a debate.
Imagine standing before the throne of God. In that moment, no one will say, “I’m not sure about this Jesus guy.” When the fullness of His glory is revealed, the only response will be to fall on our knees in awe. Isaiah 45:23 echoes this truth:
"Before me every knee will bow; by me every tongue will swear."
The question isn’t if we will bow, but when. Will we bow willingly today, in surrender and love? Or will we bow later, when His authority is undeniable, but our chance for redemption has passed?
The Power of Confession
"Every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord." Confession isn’t just words; it’s the heart recognizing truth. It’s like that moment when the lightbulb turns on and you see clearly. When we confess Jesus as Lord, we align ourselves with the ultimate truth of the universe. Romans 10:9 says,
"If you declare with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved."
Confession leads to salvation. It’s not about having all the answers or living perfectly—it’s about recognizing who Jesus is and surrendering our lives to Him.
Why This Matters Now
Here's the real question: Why wait? If we know that one day we’ll bow before Him, why not bow today? Jesus isn’t just Lord over the universe—He wants to be Lord over your life. He wants to reign in your heart, guide your steps, and bring peace to your storm. When we bow now, we experience His grace, love, and power in ways the world can’t offer.
Hell is Full of Believers
The moment anyone passes from this life, they come face to face with the undeniable truth – Jesus is Lord. Every knee will bow, and every tongue will confess. But here's the kicker: for some, that moment of belief comes too late.
You see, on this side of eternity, we have the privilege of choosing Jesus, of walking with Him, and of experiencing His grace. But there are plenty of folks who put it off. They think, "I'll get right with God later." Or maybe they assume they're good people, so heaven's a given. But let me tell you – the gates of hell swing wide for people who believe in Jesus... just after their chance to follow Him has expired.
Think about the parable of the rich man and Lazarus (Luke 16). The rich man didn't have a change of heart until he was in torment. Suddenly, he believed. Suddenly, he wanted to live differently. But that train had already left the station.
Belief Isn't Enough
Believing about Jesus isn't the same as believing in Jesus. Even the demons believe and tremble (James 2:19), but you won't catch them singing "Amazing Grace" in heaven. Belief must translate into trust, relationship, and surrender.
The Urgency
Friends, this isn't a message of doom and gloom – it's one of hope! Why? Because you're still breathing. You have today. Maybe you're here because God is giving you a wake-up call. If you're running on spiritual autopilot, it's time to grab the controls and get serious. Don't wait until the end to realize the truth. Accept it now and let Jesus change your life.
A Call to Action
Church, today is the day to bow. Not out of fear, but out of love. Not because we’re forced, but because we recognize that Jesus is worthy.
If you haven’t confessed Jesus as Lord, don’t leave today without doing so. If you have, recommit your heart to Him. Bow in worship. Confess His name boldly.
And let’s not forget—we’re called to invite others into this truth. The world needs to know that Jesus reigns, and we are His witnesses.
Closing Prayer
Heavenly Father, we thank You for the gift of Your Son, Jesus Christ. We acknowledge that He is Lord of all. Soften our hearts and draw us closer to You. Let every part of our lives reflect the truth that Jesus reigns. May we bow before You now and every day, and may our confession be a light to those around us. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
Let’s walk with confidence, knowing that our King reigns. Every knee will bow, and every tongue will confess—let’s choose to do it willingly, joyfully, and boldly today.
