So You Believe in the Devil, But Don’t Believe in God? - The Undeniable Truth God is Real

Good morning, everyone! Let’s start today with a little reality check. We live in a world where some people can easily believe in the devil, in evil, in all kinds of spiritual forces, but when it comes to the one true living God, they’re like, “Nah, that’s a little too much for me.”

Let me get this straight: You believe in the guy with the horns and the pitchfork, but you can’t believe in a loving Creator who made the universe? That’s like saying, “I believe in Bigfoot, but I don’t believe in my grandma’s apple pie!”

It just doesn’t make sense. I mean, if you can believe in one, you should probably be able to believe in the other, right? Let’s unpack this a bit.

The Absurdity of Ignoring God

Let’s start with the basics. There are people walking around who can explain evil. They can talk about how things go wrong in the world, they know who’s responsible for bad things, and they’re fully aware of the existence of the devil. They’ll even watch movies about demons and ghosts and say, “Oh yeah, totally real.”

But when you bring up God, it’s like you just said, “Hey, let’s go to Narnia!” You get the blank stare. People start asking all these questions like, “Where did God come from? Who made God? If He’s real, why does He let bad things happen?” Let’s address those questions right now.

“Where Did God Come From?”

The first thing we need to remember is that God exists outside of time. So when people ask, "Who made God?" it’s a little like asking, “What’s on the other side of infinity?” It’s a question that doesn’t apply to the nature of God because God isn’t bound by time and space like we are. He’s eternal, uncreated.

Now, you might say, “Okay, but that’s hard to grasp. Everything has to have a beginning, right?” And you’re right. Everything we know has a start and an end. But we’re not talking about your coffee mug here. We’re talking about the Creator of everything who is beyond our comprehension. It's like trying to explain the internet to someone in the 1500s—there’s a gap in understanding. But just because you don’t understand it doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.

So, to sum it up: God didn’t come from anywhere. He simply is.

“If God Is Real, Why Does He Allow Bad Things to Happen?”

This is the million-dollar question, isn’t it? People often ask this when tragedy strikes. And it’s a tough one because no one wants to see bad things happen. But here’s the thing: God gave us free will. We aren’t robots. We aren’t puppets. We were created to have the ability to make choices—good and bad.

Bad things happen because of human choices and, frankly, because we live in a broken world. It’s not God causing the bad, it’s sin and evil that has infected the world since the fall of Adam and Eve. Sin entered the world, and with it, death, suffering, and injustice.

But here’s the good news—God is actively at work to redeem and restore everything through Jesus Christ. And one day, He’ll make all things new. No more pain, no more suffering.

Satan Rules This World – For Now

Now, let’s get back to the big question: Why does Satan have so much power in the world? Well, here’s the thing—Satan is the "prince of this world" (John 14:30). He has influence, and he’s doing everything he can to blind people to the truth.

That’s his whole thing! Satan’s greatest trick isn’t making people believe in him. His greatest trick is making people believe he doesn’t exist. That’s how he operates. He loves it when people are like, “Oh, the devil’s not real. That’s just a metaphor.” He’s sitting back, relaxing, thinking, “Perfect. I can keep working behind the scenes, pulling all the strings.”

And guess what? It’s working! The devil is the master of distraction. He’ll do anything to keep your eyes off God—whether it’s through temptation, lies, or fear, religion, hocus pocus and my personal favorite - agnostic.

The Creation Debate – Nothing Creates Nothing

Now, let’s tackle the “creation vs. nothing” debate. Some folks say, “Well, I don’t believe in God. I think everything just happened by accident. Big bang, evolution, boom—here we are.”

Really? Nothing created something? You’ve got to be kidding me. You’re telling me that a rock, floating in the void, suddenly exploded and created everything? That doesn’t even pass the common sense test. It’s like saying, “I threw my laptop on the ground, and suddenly a brand new iPhone popped out.”

It doesn’t work that way. Something doesn’t come from nothing. There has to be a cause. And that Cause is God.

Think about it: Creation has a Creator. Just like you don’t get a painting without a painter or a song without a composer, you don’t get the universe without a Creator. You can’t explain life and the intricate design of the world by saying, “Well, it just happened by accident.” It’s impossible.

Even Charles Darwin Had Doubts About His Theory

Speaking of evolution—did you know that even Charles Darwin, the guy who popularized the theory of evolution, had doubts about it? In his own words, he said that the complexity of life on Earth was so intricate that it "seems to be absurd to think that natural selection alone could create such complexity."

That’s a big statement coming from the guy who made it popular! Darwin’s own doubts about his theory go to show just how weak the theory of evolution really is when you start looking at it closely. It’s a theory that’s never been proven, and it’s one that doesn’t explain the existence of life itself—only how things change over time. The “Big Bang” theory and evolution don’t answer the question of why we’re here in the first place.

The Age of the Earth – About 7,000 Years, Not Billions

Now, let’s talk about the age of the earth. Some people say that the earth is billions of years old, but the truth is, it’s almost 7,000 years old, not billions. Why 7,000? Well, because one day to God is like a thousand years (2 Peter 3:8). So, when God created the world, He wasn’t bound by time the way we are. Time has no hold over Him, and in His divine plan, He created everything in six days, and on the seventh, He rested—perfect, complete, and finished.

If you look through the genealogies in the Bible, from Adam all the way to Christ, the earth’s age can be traced to be around 6,000 to 7,000 years. And 7, as we know, is the number of completion in God’s eyes. So, 7,000 years isn’t a random number—it’s a perfect reflection of His divine design. So tic-toc everyone, we are in the end of days!

God Can Create the Appearance of Age

And here’s the thing that some people miss: When God created Adam, he was created as a fully grown man. Adam didn’t wake up as a baby, he didn’t have to go through childhood or adolescence. He was fully formed and capable, able to name animals and communicate with God. In the same way, God can create something with the appearance of age without it having taken eons to develop.

Think about it—the first tree that grew in the Garden of Eden was created with the appearance of age. It didn’t start as a seed and grow over hundreds of years. God spoke it into existence, and there it was, fully mature. Same with the stars, the sun, the earth, and everything we see. God can create mature things from the start, and that’s what He did.

So, when you look at creation and say, “This looks like it’s millions or billions of years old,” you’re only seeing the “appearance of age”—not the true age, as God designed it.

Resetting Time with Jesus

Now, speaking of time, have you ever wondered why the whole world follows a calendar that goes back to the birth of Jesus Christ? Whether people are believers or not, time itself is reset based on the birth of the most pivotal figure in all of history. In fact, the entire calendar we use—B.C. (Before Christ) and A.D. (Anno Domini, which means “in the year of our Lord”)—is structured around His birth. Talk about proof that God is real!

The birth of Jesus doesn’t just divide our years—it defines them, and even the secular world unknowingly points to God’s plan every time they mark a date on the calendar. That’s pretty remarkable, isn’t it?

God’s timing is perfect, and His creation is perfect, just like His plan for you and me. So, if someone tries to convince you that the earth is billions of years old, just point them to the truth that God can create a universe that appears older than it is—and that’s exactly what He did. After all, He is the Creator of all things and not bound by the limitations we often try to place on Him.

The Calendar and God’s Design

And let’s talk about the calendar, shall we? We know the year is broken down into 12 months, but did you know there’s actually 13 constellations, and 13 months in the year originally? That’s right. Each month was originally designed with 28 days, except for one day—the day of rest, the Sabbath. This was a design based on Jesus’ resurrection, which occurred on the seventh day.

Let’s go a bit deeper—if you look at the names of the months, they actually reveal something about God’s design. For example, September is the 7th month (Sept means seven), October is the 8th month, November is the 9th, December is the 10th, and so on.

And here’s a fun one: March used to be the 13th month. Why is March the 13th month? Because it’s the final month before the new year. And what does April represent? April Fool’s Day!—because it marks the moment people get fooled by the world’s calendar that doesn’t reflect God’s perfect design.

Conclusion: Don’t Buy the Lie

So, let me leave you with this: Don’t buy the lie. Don’t let Satan tell you that God isn’t real, that life happened by accident, or that you don’t need Jesus. That’s exactly what he wants you to believe so he can keep you separated from God forever.

God is real. Jesus is the answer. And the good news is, He’s just waiting for you to say “yes” and receive the truth.

You can either believe the lie, or you can believe the truth. The choice is yours.

Amen!
