Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, today I want to share a profound and often overlooked truth: We are all Christians. Yes, every human being on this earth, whether they acknowledge Christ or not, was created by Him, through Him, and for Him. This is not just a theological statement; it is a truth that should radically change the way we see ourselves, each other, and the world around us.
Let’s dive into the Word of God and explore how this truth unfolds, and why it matters.
Created by Christ: The Source of All Life
In the book of Colossians, the apostle Paul writes a powerful truth in Colossians 1:16-17:
“For by Him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.”
These verses make it abundantly clear: Jesus Christ is the Creator of all things. Not just the things we recognize as good or holy—like us, the Church, or the world of believers. But all things. This includes every human being, every nation, and every creature on the earth. Whether someone believes in Christ or not, their very existence is a result of Christ’s creation. The fact that you and I are alive, breathing, and walking this earth is a direct consequence of Christ’s will and purpose.
When God created Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, He did not create them as people distant from Christ. Rather, Christ was there at the beginning (John 1:1-3), and through Him, humanity was made. As Christians, we often focus on the fact that Christ came to save us, but we must not forget that we were first created by Him—and in that sense, every human being is part of the creation of Christ.
This means that even those who don’t yet acknowledge Christ as Lord and Savior are still, in a very real sense, Christ’s creation. Every human being—regardless of their religion, belief system, or lack thereof—is intimately connected to Jesus because He is the one who created them. They were made in His image and for His glory.
Made in His Image: The Imprint of Christ on Every Human Being
Genesis 1:26-27 says,
“Then God said, 'Let us make man in our image, after our likeness.' So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.”
Every human being, regardless of their culture, background, or beliefs, carries the image of God. The imprint of Christ is on us all. Christ is the ultimate image of God—as Hebrews 1:3 says, He is the "exact imprint" of God's nature. When God made humans in His image, He made us to reflect His character, His creativity, His love, and His purpose.
This is why every person has dignity, value, and worth. No matter the circumstances, no matter the sin, no matter the life choices—every human being has Christ’s image stamped upon them. And this is why we must treat every person with respect and love, because they, too, were made by Christ and for Christ.
But it is also important to note that while we are all made in the image of Christ, sin has distorted that image in all of us. While we were originally created perfect, the fall of man introduced sin into the world, and we all, by nature, became alienated from God. But even in our fallen state, God’s image is not entirely erased. It is marred but not destroyed. Christ came to restore that image, which leads us to the next point.
Restored by Christ: Redemption for All
Jesus Christ did not just create us and leave us to our own devices. He came to redeem what was lost. In Romans 5:8, Paul writes:
“But God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Christ’s love for humanity goes beyond creation. He died for the very people He made, even when they rejected Him. His sacrificial death on the cross was for all people, not just those who call themselves Christians. It was for every person who has ever lived. Jesus Christ offers redemption, the opportunity to be reconciled to the Father, to be restored to the image of God, and to receive eternal life.
Christ is the one who holds the power to restore humanity to its original purpose—to live in relationship with God, to reflect His character, and to fulfill the unique purpose He has for each person. Even those who do not yet recognize Him as their Savior are still potential recipients of His grace. Through the Gospel, God’s invitation of restoration is extended to everyone, everywhere. The call of Christ is universal:
"Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28).
This is why we, as Christians, are called to be the light of the world (Matthew 5:14). We are not only to evangelize to those who know Christ, but also to demonstrate His love to all humanity, because all people were created by Christ and for Christ. Our love, compassion, and outreach must reflect the truth that every human being matters to God, and that He desires to restore all of creation back to Himself.
Why This Truth Matters
Why does this truth—that we are all Christians, made by Christ—matter? First, it changes how we view people. If we truly understood that every person on earth is a creation of Christ, it would radically change our perspective on how we treat one another. We would see beyond cultural differences, political opinions, or religious divides. We would see Christ in each person and recognize their inherent value.
Second, this truth should motivate us to share the love of Christ with the world. We should not see people as “others” or “outsiders.” We must understand that we are all in need of God’s grace. Jesus died for everyone, and His resurrection is the promise that every person can experience new life in Him.
Finally, this truth reminds us of our shared humanity. As followers of Christ, we have been called to be a part of His family, to build His kingdom, and to reconcile the world to Himself. We must live with the understanding that every soul on earth has been created by Christ—and it is our mission to help them find their true identity and purpose in Him.
Conclusion and Prayer
As we go forth today, let us remember that every person—no matter who they are, where they come from, or what they believe—has been created by Christ. We are all part of the human family that was made in God’s image and designed for His glory. And in Christ, we are offered the gift of restoration.
Let us be bold in sharing this truth with the world, not with condemnation, but with love, grace, and the message of salvation.
Let us pray
Heavenly Father, We thank You for the truth that we are all Your creation, made in Your image, and created through Your Son, Jesus Christ. Thank You for the beautiful reminder that every human being is precious to You, and that You came to redeem us all. Help us to see one another as You see us—each person a reflection of Your creation and in need of Your love and grace. Give us hearts that are open to sharing the hope of Christ with all people, and help us to love those around us, knowing that we are all part of Your family, created by You and for You. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
